Shaded car camping spaces (for cars, small trucks, and SUV's only) are available for vehicles under 18ft in length for a $100 contribution.
If you wish to car camp without shade, you do not need to pay this contribution.
Pull vehicles and other vehicles cannot be parked next to your camper, unless previously arranged. They must be parked in the Rootpile parking area.
Camping vehicles under 28ft are free
Camping vehicles over 28ft require a $250 contribution.
Space and real estate on Playa is very limited and the space camping vehicles take up impacts how many members we can have in camp. Therefore, we ask for a contribution for this vehicle/RV/camper trailer space.
RV Power is an additional cost regardless of RV size. Please see RV power options in the next section.
RV Camping Power
Camp members contributing to use space for their camping vehicle can elect to not have Rootpile supplied grid power, but are NOT allowed to run personal generators. If you plug in to the 30 or 50 amp power grid without permission, you will be disconnected.
Minimum power supplied is a typical 30 amp connection. The minimum fuel share contribution for this is $1000.
50 amp power is selectively available for a fuel share contribution of $1,500, as it uses more than 3 times the power of a 30 amp connection.
If you will be using Rootpile's 30 or 50 amp power, you are responsible for bringing at least one power cord which fits your RV.
Please understand that contributing for power does not mean that Rootpile's DPW volunteer team is expected to repair, troubleshoot, or consult with you concerning power problems or other RV repair or maintenance issues that stem from your RV/vehicle and are not stemming from Rootpile's grid.
Due to carbon monoxide safety concerns, noise concerns, fuel storage & safety concerns, and in an effort to reduce our camp's overall carbon footprint, we cannot allow RVs to run their own generators unless there is a significant power outage of Rootpile's power grid, and only then with permission and planning from camp leadership.
We are looking for the best and brightest musicians and dancers. You need to make an application and get confirmed to be a part of the performance!. We are fully booked with Bluegrass musicians but still looking for Electric Band performers and lighting technicians or stage hands. Camp Dues
Your $500 camp dues cover your share of Rootpile's shared infrastructure, including power, bathrooms, showers, water, community kitchen, nightly dinners, bar, shade structures, stages, sound systems, and the camp spaces that make our live music and programming possible! Every camper also contributes a volunteer day during the week to help keep Rootpile running smoothly.
Annual Camp Contribution
Until August 1st, please note we are going to forgo the normal annual contribution. After August 1st all Rootpile Members will be required to pay this fee to support camp. We don’t like to think of this as a late fee. The payment covers your camp membership for the year. All camp members are encouraged but not required to pay the annual yearly dues. This is a donation that covers off playa expenses.

The products below are 10% deposits toward your final camp reservation. After we receive your deposit and review your camp application, we'll contact you to confirm your reservation and send an invoice for your remaining balance.
What's included?
Every RV or camping package includes one person's $500 camp dues (typically the driver or primary camp member).
Every additional person staying in your RV or camp must purchase their own Camp Dues separately.
Before You Purchase
Please complete the Rootpile Camp Application either before or immediately after placing your deposit. This helps us confirm that we're a good fit and allows us to plan our camp layout.
Once your application has been reviewed, we'll email you a personalized invoice for the remaining balance based on your selected accommodations and any additional options.
